Former high school chemistry teacher Damien Anderson and his wife Amanda launched Tiny Bear Distillery in Melbourne’s outer suburbs in 2018, born of a desire to follow their dreams. 19th century British Royal Navy officers harboured suspicions that their gin supplies had been diluted and tested this theory on gunpowder below decks. If gin spilt on gunpowder smoked when lit, it was considered underproof and if the gunpowder still burned, it was proof that it was Navy Strength.
